How do I know my iPad needs a new battery? add
Common signs: rapid drain, shutting down well above 0%, not waking even on a charger, very slow charging, or a screen lifting at the edge from a swollen cell. Bring a swollen iPad in right away and never press on it. We confirm the fault on a bench power supply before quoting, so a charging port or logic board issue isn't misdiagnosed as a battery.

It depends on what's actually wrong. If the port is just clogged with lint, cleaning costs far less than a replacement — and we check that first, free. If the port itself is damaged, we desolder it and micro-solder a new one onto the logic board in-house. Most iPad charging port repairs are done same-day in 1 to 2 hours with a 30-day warranty. My iPad won't charge or the cable feels loose — is it the port? add
Often, but not always. A cable that won't click in, charging that cuts in and out when you wiggle the cable, or an iPad that only charges at a certain angle usually means lint packed in the port or bent internal pins. It can also be the cable, the battery, or the logic board — so we diagnose on a bench power supply before quoting.
Do you do board-level micro-soldering in Downtown LA? add
Yes — in-house at 810 S Flower St, Suite B, Los Angeles, CA 90017. That includes desoldering a damaged iPad USB-C port off the logic board and soldering a new one in under a microscope. Many shops outsource this or won't take it at all.
My iPad is stuck on the "connect to computer" screen — is it bricked? add
Usually not. If the power button is cracked or jammed into the frame, the iPad reads it as a held button combo and boots straight into recovery / DFU mode. It isn't bricked and your data is fine — it's stuck there because of a hardware button. We fix the button, reshape the dented housing so it can travel again, and it boots normally. Same-day, 1–2 hours.
Why does my iPad power button jam again after being replaced? add
Because the aluminum around the button opening is dented by the same impact that broke the button. A new button can't rise back through a deformed hole, so it jams again within days. We file and reshape the opening before fitting the new button — that's the step that makes it last.
Can you fix bent iPads? add
Yes. We remove the display first so it can't crack, then clamp the bare aluminum chassis and bring it back to flat gradually — forcing it fast cracks the metal. If the bend is too severe to correct safely, we replace the whole housing and transfer your components. Don't try to bend it back by hand — puncturing the battery is a fire hazard.
Is the data preserved during the repair? add
Generally, your data is safe. However, unexpected issues can occur with complex electronics. We always recommend backing up your tablet to iCloud or a computer before bringing it in.
Do you need my passcode? add
Yes. To fully test the touch sensitivity, cameras, and sensors after repair, we need access. If you prefer not to provide it, we cannot verify that every function works correctly after the repair.
Do you repair Samsung Galaxy Tab and Microsoft Surface too? add
Yes. Beyond iPad, we repair Samsung Galaxy Tab (S and A series) and Microsoft Surface screens, batteries, and charging ports in our Downtown LA shop.
How much does iPad screen replacement cost? add
